5th Graders sit in front of graduates in cap and gowns

The hallways of Progress South Elementary were filled with a different kind of energy this morning as the towering figures of high school seniors swapped their usual classrooms for the familiar, brightly decorated corridors of their childhood.

The annual Grad Walk took place today, featuring South High School seniors who began their academic journeys as Progress South "Eagles." Dressed in full caps and gowns, the graduates paraded through the school to the cheers of current students and the tearful smiles of former teachers.

As the seniors moved through the halls, PSE students and staff lined the walls, holding handmade signs and reaching out for high-fives from the "big kids" they will become one day.

Looking Toward the Future

The Grad Walk serves as more than just a trip down memory lane; it acts as a bridge between generations. For the seniors, it’s a chance to say a proper goodbye to the place where it all started. For the elementary students, it’s a vivid glimpse of the milestone that awaits them in the years to come.

As the seniors boarded the buses to head back to South High, they left behind a trail of inspiration as they prepare to walk across the stage for their official commencement this weekend.

Congratulations to the South High Class of 2026!
