DARE to resist drugs and violence drug abuse resistance education

Last night, PSE fifth graders officially marked the culmination of weeks of hard work with their DARE graduation. The DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation celebrates a new generation of students committed to making healthy, safe, and responsible decisions.

Leading the charge was Officer Jessica Misuraca, the familiar face of the O’Fallon PD. Throughout the semester, Officer Misuraca has been a fixture in local hallways, teaching students not just about the dangers of drugs and violence, but how to navigate the complex social pressures of growing up.

The Power of the Pen

A cornerstone of the DARE. curriculum is the final essay, where students reflect on the "D.A.R.E. Decision Making Model" and pledge their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. During the ceremony, select students were invited to the podium to read their essays aloud. Their word served as a reminder of the program's impact.

Symbols of Success

The graduation reached its peak as each student crossed the stage to receive their official DARE ID Card. More than just a piece of plastic, the card serves as a tangible "contract" and a daily reminder of the promises they made to themselves, their families, and Officer Misuraca.

To cap off the celebration, the students rose in unison for a high-energy performance of the DARE song. The lyrics, echoed by young voices, filled the auditorium with a message of strength and unity that will resonate for years to come.
