PSE Teachers engage in True PLC PD

Following the Fort Zumwalt School District’s extended weekend, PSE educators returned today for a day of focused professional development.

To kick off the morning, our Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and special education teachers had a menu of professional development options tailored to their individual needs. Specialists met with their counterparts at other buildings to strategize and problem-solve. Meanwhile our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade teams explored the new Social Studies curriculum and its extensive suite of student-centered resources.

Later, the entire staff gathered at PSE to deepen our collective understanding of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process. We are fortunate to have an internal team of teachers who have attended intensive PLC training over the past two years; they are now leading our building efforts to implement these practices with greater fidelity.

We concluded the morning by working in grade-level teams to analyze iReady and common formative assessment data, establish targeted small groups, and design interventions that directly support our school’s mission: "Progressing Every Day, Each Child, Every Way."
