Progress South Elementary School was one of three local schools selected for special recognition for their Butterfly and Pollinator Habitat Garden in September 2019.
PSE has long been home to an Outdoor Classroom supported by several
grants from the Missouri Department of Conservation(MDC), volunteers and fundraising. For close
to twenty years, our students and teachers have been able to study and engage with
nature through this powerful learning environment.
In April of 2016, PSE was one of the recipients of an MDC grant dedicated
to development and preservation of Monarch Butterfly and other pollinator habitats.
The combination of our Monarch habitat and Outdoor Classroom has produced memorable moments for our entire learning community.
Parents, students, and staff
have joined together both to create and preserve these important gardens along with continued support from the Fort Zumwalt District and
dedicated volunteers.
PSE is grateful for the vision of our leaders and the tireless efforts of our volunteers which have made
all of this possible. Special thanks to the Pilla Family, Plowman family, Dr. Deb Yerkes and our PSE community for their continued support in maintaining, growing, and overseeing these outdoor spaces at PSE!
